Mission Statement
National Anesthesiology Pain Education Seminars recognizes the management of pain to be the central component of the specialty of anesthesiology and a common denominator of treatment among a variety of medical, nursing and alternative health care disciplines. As an anesthesiology centered educational organization the mission of NAPES is to provide diagnostic and non-interventional and interventional therapeutic pain management training to anesthesiology practitioners and other health care practitioners who have a special interest in the management of pain outside of the operating room and obstetrical suite with the intention that such training will be incorporated within the scope of practice and legal guidelines of each practitioner's discipline. NAPES is sensitive to the criticism of the health care industry of its somtimes inadequate and inappropriate treatment of pain and so strives to offer education especially to health care practitioners who are in a position to offer these services to patients who might otherwise go without treatment. NAPES does not discriminate on the basis of any particular discipline or disciplines of a practitioner but relies on each participant to incorporate only those teachings which they are entitled to incorporate on the basis of scope of practice and legal guidelines.
